Previous to joining the Blood Service, Shelly was Chief Executive of Monash Health, which provides healthcare services to over a million people in Melbourne. Her previous positions have also included Executive Director of Jessie McPherson Private Hospital, General Manager of Medical and Surgical Services at Christchurch Hospital (New Zealand), and General Manager at The Princess Margaret Hospital in Canterbury, New Zealand.
Her 20 years of business experience at a senior level has been supplemented by formal studies including a Master of Science in Management from Ashridge Business School (UK) and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from Massey University (New Zealand). Shelly is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Fellow of Ethical Leadership (Melbourne Business School). She has served on the board of the Australian Commission on Safety & Quality in Healthcare, Chaired the Global Leadership Board of Doctor Foster Global Comparators, and is currently a Board member of the Australian Red Cross, Jessie McPherson Private Hospital, and Vice Chair of the Asia Pacific Blood Network. Shelly was awarded the Telstra Victorian Business Woman of the Year award in 2011.
Executive Director, Finance

John has worked for almost 25 years in the government, health and not-for-profit sector, including 6 and a half years as the former Executive Director, Finance and Corporate at the Royal Children’s Hospital, where he was fortunate to be involved in the development through to completion of the new hospital building.
Prior to this John was the Financial Controller for Austin Health and also gained experience in roles within Victorian State Government and the Commonwealth Government. John is a volunteer Board member of the Northern Support Services which is disability services provider in Melbourne’s inner north and is also a member of Alfred Health’s Medical Staff Trust.
Dr Joanne Pink
Executive Director, Clinical Services and Research/Chief Medical Officer

Joanne has more than 20 years’ experience in transfusion medicine and participates in a number of domestic and international expert transfusion medicine committees. She is a haematologist with combined fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Joanne is passionate about donor and product safety, sharing knowledge and learnings through international benchmarking, converting collective wisdom and leading-edge research into practical business outcomes. She is a member of a number of Council of Europe (CoE) Working Groups, including the drafting group for the CoE Guide to the preparation, use and quality assurance of blood components, and is the Chair of the Alliance of Blood Operators Medical Director Working Group.
Executive Director, Donor Services

Janine has worked for the Blood Service for 11 years, and has held three different executive roles in that time, spanning strategy, business planning, marketing, operations and projects.
Prior to joining the Blood Service, Janine worked at the New York Blood Center as their Director of Business Strategy and Development, following her time as an associate/engagement manager with McKinsey & Company. Additionally, she spent a number of years in the field of physiotherapy in Melbourne and London.
Janine has also been a Board member of the University of New England Foundation since 2011.
Executive Director, Business Improvement

Peter has over 25 years’ experience in executive roles in the government and health sectors, including 12 years as CFO at Austin Health and Alfred Health, where he had responsibility for finance, information technology, corporate services and capital management.
Peter is a Council Member and Chair of the Finance & Resources Committee at La Trobe University as well as a Board Member at Northern Health. He is also Chair of the Risk Based Decision Making working group for the international Alliance of Blood Operators.
Executive Director, People and Culture

Anne is an Executive level Human Resources Manager with thirty years’ experience across a number of blue chip, medium and large organisations, both private and public sector. She has worked at all tiers of government from local to federal and in a number of large corporate commercial organisations across telecommunications, retail and banking.
Anne has held key roles in mergers of the Bank of Melbourne with Westpac and of Coles with Myer, and was a member for the Monash Medical Research Institute Advisory Board. After joining the Blood Service in 2004, Anne was instrumental in supporting the transition from eight state-based Blood Services to a national organisation. She has also introduced improvements in the areas of workforce planning and safety, a diversity strategy, a performance management system, and an award-winning employee value proposition (EVP).
Dr Frances Guyett
Executive Director, Innovation and Commercial Strategy

Frances has 25 years of national and international senior management experience in commercialisation, corporate governance, marketing and the commercial application of emerging technologies. Her technology and business background is broad and covers therapeutics, diagnostics, devices, biological, instrumentation and software.
Prior to joining the Blood Service, Frances was the inaugural CEO for the New Zealand Health Innovation Hub, worked with RMIT University Science, Engineering and Health College as Director, Industry Engagement and Commercialisation in Melbourne, preceded by six years as Chief Executive of RDDT Laboratories, a subsidiary of RMIT which specialises in pre-clinical toxicology, clinical and bio analytical testing services. She was also Chief Executive with Medvet Science in Adelaide and has held other senior industry appointments in business development and pharmaceutical companies in Australia, Asia Pacific, Latin America and the US.
Dr Philip Nesci

Philip is an internationally experienced Chief Information Officer and Management Consultant with over 35 years of experience in the IT industry in the private sector, health and government.
He has held senior positions including: Chief Information Officer at Monash Health; Global Chief Information for Orica Ltd.; Director of IT for China Light and Power in Hong Kong; and Director for IT at Energy Australia. Prior to this, Philip worked for Shell International in Australia, Holland and the United Kingdom.
As Consulting Director, Philip has contributed to ASX 200 organisations and government on business and IT transformation as well as IT strategy and Governance.
Executive Director, Manufacturing

Previous to becoming Executive Director in 2016, Greg held a number of roles in Manufacturing at the Blood Service, honing his expertise in lean, process improvement, quality, supply chain, and customer engagement. He has led operational teams in South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory, as well as establishing the National Contact Centre in Adelaide and, more recently, driving a lean continuous improvement culture in Manufacturing.
Prior to joining the Blood Service, Greg was predominantly in business improvement and customer service operations in different industries including logistics, transport and energy, including the role of Transfers Operations Manager at AGL Energy and various leadership roles with the Royal Mail in the UK.
